Vintage 1940s Embroidered Peasant Blouse, Parachute-Style Hungarian Folk Top, Small

Vibrant vintage 1940s hand-embroidered peasant blouse crafted from so-called “parachute silk,” which in this case is early nylon introduced during wartime production beginning in 1942. These parachute blouses are a fascinating example of textile reuse and ingenuity, prized today for both their history and their striking folk embroidery.

The crisp white nylon ground is beautifully adorned with colorful hand embroidery in shades of pink, red, purple, green, yellow-orange, and blue, forming floral motifs, budding stems, and swirling vine designs across the bodice and sleeves. The blouse is styled with a softly smocked waist and smocked sleeve hems, creating a flattering, gently bloused silhouette. Practical snap closures are set at the left side hem (three snaps) along with a snap at each sleeve hem.
