Rare vintage 1920s tap pants—also called step-ins—made of soft pale peachy-beige silk with breathtaking delicate lace. The lace is cut into wonderful pointed peaks that rise into the waist, creating that distinctive Art Deco silhouette. A highlight is the exquisite hand-worked ribbon-rosette appliqué on one leg—silken pink roses with tiny buds, soft green leaves, and hand-embroidered blue forget-me-nots worked in charming French knots. The tap pants are designed with a low waist and flared short legs finished in irregular scalloped points at the hem. Two hook/eyes and 1 snap at upper left side waist.
A rare surviving example of true 1920s intimate wear—beautiful as a display piece or for boudoir photography.
