Vintage 1920s Black Filet Lace Flapper Dress with Gold Lamé Underlay & Ribbonwork Flowers, S/M

Fantastic vintage 1920s flapper dress crafted in striking black filet lace layered over a shimmering metallic gold lamé under slip. The open grid filet lace features a bold floral motif that allows the gold lamé beneath to glow and sparkle beautifully, creating strong visual contrast and movement.

Cut in a classic 1920s shift silhouette with a low drop waist, the dress is accented by a matching lace waistband detailed with nine hand-worked ribbonwork flowers at the hip — a wonderful period detail that adds texture and dimension. The filet lace overdress and lamé slip are attached at the waistline, designed to move together as a single garment.

The gold lamé slip features shoulder straps, with a distinctive double-strap detail at the back. There are no closures; the dress slips on over the head, typical of many original 1920s garments. The lamé slip retains its original label, “M. E. Wilson, Chicago,” adding to the authenticity and provenance.

A standout example of 1920s Art Deco eveningwear, rich in texture, craftsmanship, and unmistakable flapper-era style.

For best fit and to avoid stressing the lamé underslip, I recommend your body measurements be at least 2" smaller than the garment measurements. For the bust in particular, a 36" or smaller bust is ideal. This dress is not meant to fit tightly and should skim the body in a relaxed, true 1920s silhouette.

Condition: Very Good.
Minor darkening to the gold lamé at the underarm edges. A tarnish mark is present on the lamé skirt, though it is not visible through the black filet lace overlay. The original underarm shields remain intact and in place, showing age-appropriate spotting.
