Vintage 1920s Egyptian Revival Embellished Cape, Art Deco Flapper Cloak

Striking vintage 1920s black silk cape showcasing dramatic Egyptian Revival influence, a hallmark of late Jazz Age design. This exceptional cape is centered by two etched embellishments at either side of the padded collar neckline, depicting stylized Egyptian or ancient priestess figures — bold, graphic details that immediately anchor the piece in Art Deco exoticism.

A coiled silk fringe tassel trims the neckline and extends down the front edges, adding movement and theatrical flair. The silhouette is softly gathered at the hem, allowing the cape to drape fluidly over the shoulders and body. Inside, the printed silk lining is especially eye-catching, featuring a rich mix of Indian, Asian, and Middle Eastern–inspired motifs — a true “melting pot” of global influences that were highly fashionable during the 1920s Egyptian Revival craze.

The cape fastens at the neckline with a hook-and-loop closure. Remnants of original silk arm straps remain (one nearly intact); if arm straps are desired for wear, new ones can be added without difficulty.

Condition: Good(-) vintage condition. There are areas of thinning to the silk on the back, a small hole, three visible darns, and a thin area above one of the embellishments.
