Vintage Late 1920s–1930s Sheer Black Silk Lace Bell Sleeve Art Deco Dress, Large

Striking vintage late 1920s to early 1930s evening dress crafted in sheer black silk georgette layered over embroidered and beaded net lace, featuring truly spectacular bell sleeves. 

The dress is styled with a sleeveless under-bodice of creamy beige floral embroidered net lace, finished with a graceful scoop neckline. The neckline is subtly accented with prong-set rhinestones and glass bugle beads, all mounted onto a solid black silk foundation. Over this, the sheer silk georgette overlay forms a wide-set V-shaped cowl neckline, weighted at the center front with a small covered weight to ensure elegant drape and placement.

The sleeves are especially special: sheer silk georgette bell sleeves layered over fitted embroidered net lace inner sleeves, each finished with beadwork at the hem. This double-layer construction creates wonderful movement and visual depth. The georgette overlay blouses gently at the waist, while the outer skirt is shaped with half-moon low-hip seam panels that allow the hem to fall into asymmetrical, cascading waves. Beneath the sheer layer, a three-quarter-length solid silk skirt provides coverage while maintaining the dress’s ethereal quality.

There are no closures; the dress slips on over the head. Designed for a relaxed, body-skimming fit, consistent with the era.

Please note: This dress is designed for a loose fit. Body measurements should be approximately 1–2" smaller than the garment measurements for comfortable wear.

Condition: Good vintage condition. The silk georgette shows subtle dryness but retains wearable life; handle gently. Yellowing is present to the embroidered net at the back and is visible through the sheer black layer. A darn is present at the bell sleeve hem, along with a few minor light spots (shown in the final image collage). There is a tiny break to the georgette at the shoulder edging.
