Antique Edwardian 1910s Red Silk Lace Dress, XS

Gorgeous antique Edwardian dress dating to the 1910s, crafted in luscious red silk and finished with intricate hand embroidery and lace detailing. The silk has a beautiful depth and softness, while the yoke is especially striking, featuring red and black silk embroidered medallions accented with zigzag stitching. A scalloped cream floral lace trim frames the neckline, complemented by tiered half sleeves that add softness and movement.

The bodice is styled with two wide tuck pleats extending over each shoulder. A softly gathered silk cummerbund defines and nips the waist, lending a flattering Edwardian silhouette. The skirt falls in a long, elegant line and is detailed with numerous fine pintuck pleats.

The dress fastens down the center back, extending partially into the skirt, with hook and eye closures. The bodice is lined in lightweight silk and features short boning encircling the interior for gentle support and shape.

Condition: Good. Presents beautifully with minor, age-appropriate flaws. The bodice lining shows areas of tearing. A small hole is present in the skirt. There is faint discoloration and subtle water marking at the back of the skirt, visible only upon close inspection. Light underarm darkening and pinking to the lace at the seam are present, along with a couple of minor spots and a few loose silk floss ends.

An unusual old alteration is noted: the silk has been brought up at the right underarm over the lace seam (see bottom middle image in the final collage). Please enlarge images for full detail.
