Absolutely stunning early 1900s antique Victorian–Edwardian two-piece dress set, exquisitely embellished in sheer black silk and Chantilly lace. The bodice and skirt are richly adorned with sequined floral motifs, tiny steel-cut beads, and trailing metallic silver “stems,” creating a dramatic surface shimmer. Panels of black Chantilly lace—also subtly sequined—add depth and elegance throughout the design.

The bodice is styled with a lace-trimmed neckline and a heavily embellished shoulder and back collar overlay. Sleeves fall between two-thirds and three-quarter length and are finished with embellished scalloped Chantilly lace hems. The front bodice features swirling beaded metallic silver vines, stems, and flowers, with a seamed and partially boned elongated front hem. Black ribbed silk overlays the back and side hem areas for contrast and structure. The bodice fastens down the front with snaps through the sheer black silk.

Internally, a small portion of the original silk lining remains; while shredded, it still helps conceal the eye closures. The bodice has been stabilized with a newer vintage acetate-type lining. The hook side is secured through areas of pink nylon covering portions of the original silk, with hooks stitched into the newer lining. All hooks have been re-secured. There are twelve hook-and-eye closures present, with one missing top eye and one missing hook-and-eye at the bottom.

The skirt is truly breathtaking, finished with a scalloped asymmetrical Chantilly lace hem that cascades into an elongated, trained back. Both back sides feature gathered sections adorned with sequined half-bow or fan-shaped details, beautifully complementing the large central back bow-like motif. Two halves of a sequined floral design meet at the center back closure, creating a striking focal point. The waist features an interior grosgrain waistband with three hook-and-eye closures, along with five snaps down the center back of the skirt. The back of the skirt also hooks directly onto the bodice. The skirt has been re-lined with a vintage acetate-type lining.

Overall, this set presents beautifully and remains an exceptional example of heavily embellished early 20th-century evening wear.
