Antique Victorian Black Silk Draped Perch Bonnet Hat with Feather Spray & Jet Ornament, c. 1895–1905

Exceptional Victorian Edwardian antique black silk perch bonnet dating circa 1895–1905! Constructed over a hidden internal wire framework to maintain its sculptural shape, the bonnet is covered in black silk arranged into dramatic draped folds and gathered ruching. A fine feather spray and faceted black jet ornament accent the hat. Matching fabric ties secure beneath the chin with a hook-and-eye closure (hook is a modern replacement).

Appropriate for mourning or fashionable millinery!

Interior Crown Circumference: Approx. 19 1/2"
Height: Approx. 11" from bottom to top

*Please note: This bonnet is meant to perch atop the head rather than fit around the crown like a traditional hat.

Condition: Very good! A small section of the internal wire framework is visible at one side. The interior lining appears to have been removed, leaving the wire and mesh support structure visible.
