Antique Mid-1910s Navy Wool Embroidered Walking Suit Jacket with Asymmetrical Closures, M - M/L

Exceptional antique mid-1910s walking suit jacket crafted in deep navy wool gabardine with beautifully executed tonal embroidery. The jacket features a striking asymmetrical diagonal button closure and an artful uneven hem, with two hidden snap closures below the front for additional support. Embroidery is placed along the winged collar, sides, and hem, with small embroidered arrow-shaped points accenting the top of each front side seam. An attached waistband wraps from the sides around the back, culminating in a center back sash. The sleeves finish with slight slit hems adorned with four non-functional accent buttons at each cuff.

Labeled Geo. E. Brett Co., a regional Minnesota clothier with locations in Mankato and Albert Lea. The jacket is fully lined in original printed silk, which shows age-related wear.

Condition: Good to Very Good. The silk lining shows wear including tearing and some missing sections, most notable at the interior sleeve hems. Two small areas of fraying are present at the right side collar edge embroidery. A very faint lightened line is visible at the upper left sleeve (more noticeable in photographs where lighting has been adjusted). Two tiny chews are present, along with two areas of very minor thinning / weakened fabric to the wool. Overall, the wool exterior remains strong and the jacket presents beautifully.
