Phenomenal antique late 1910s brimmed statement hat, richly constructed in deep black velvet and warm copper-toned lamé with dramatic segmented paneling. The wide, structured brim is especially striking, alternating between plush velvet and metallic lamé woven in a scrolling foliate pattern that catches the light beautifully and gives the hat incredible visual depth.
The interior brim is adorned with dimensional velvet butterfly appliqués in softly shaded tones, each carefully shaped and hand-applied. The interior is fully lined in silk and finished with delicate hand embroidery — a hallmark of higher-end late Edwardian to WWI-era millinery.
The crown is finished with gathered black velvet sides and a coordinating lamé top panel. A blue silk ribbon trimmed with metal bullion edges wraps the crown and is tied into a structured bow detail, adding a subtle but striking accent.
A rare and visually striking example of late-1910s millinery craftsmanship with the bold, architectural direction of early Art Deco design.
