Antique Late 1910s Black Wool Twill Car Coat with Soutache Embroidery, M - M/L

Antique late-1910s tailored car coat crafted in black wool twill with a fine diagonal weave, featuring a streamlined, gently shaped silhouette and an offset button front. The wide collar is decorated with hand-applied soutache embroidery framing the lapels and extending across the back neckline, with coordinating soutache trim at the cuffs. The cut is long and lean, designed for ease of movement while seated, with two narrow side slits at the hem.

The wool has a smooth hand with soft drape, providing structure and shape without stiffness. Interior construction shows careful vertical seaming that subtly shapes the body. A refined and wearable example of late-1910s outerwear, suitable as a period car coat or an elegant daytime coat. Unlined.
