Antique Late 1910s–1920s Beaded Flapper Dress with Angel Wing Sleeves, B. Altman Black & Gold Lamé Jazz Age Gown, S–S/M

Bewitching antique late 1910s to early 1920s flapper dress crafted in black silk chiffon and satin, lavishly detailed with intricate beadwork and finished with the most extraordinary sheer sleeves. Often described as angel wing or sorceress sleeves, they billow beautifully from the shoulders in diaphanous chiffon, creating dramatic movement and an unmistakable Jazz Age presence.

The square-cut neckline frames the décolletage, while the bodice is constructed in three layers, with the outermost sheer silk chiffon layer adorned in delicate floral beadwork motifs. A striking metallic gold lamé waistband draws the eye and defines the silhouette, anchoring the design before flowing into a below-knee to ankle-length skirt with additional beaded decoration that catches the light with movement.

The dress fastens with numerous hook and eye closures along the interior bodice, with snaps at the left side of the outer layers, along the waistline, and partially down the skirt. An interior grosgrain waistband provides structure and support at the waist—please see photos for detailed views. A truly special and evocative Jazz Age piece in near excellent condition, balancing dramatic design with refined craftsmanship.

For reference, the dress is shown on a dress form with a 37" bust and 27" waist. The bust fit was tight on the form, so a 34–35" bust is recommended. The waist fit comfortably at 27" on the form due to the interior construction and supportive inner waistband.

Condition: Near Excellent / Presents Beautifully
Two small spots are present on the second inner bodice layer and are not visible from the exterior. There are two small holes near the hem of one chiffon sleeve, a tear at the left underarm in the chiffon, and a tiny hole to the bodice. A minor wear spot is noted at the left shoulder. A small section of chiffon at the right underarm has detached and will require a few stitches to secure.
