Breathtaking antique Edwardian wedding gown dating to the late 1910s or early 1920s, crafted in luminous cream silk and richly adorned with ivory embroidery and clear iridescent beadwork. This exceptional Titanic-era bridal dress is accompanied by a scalloped floral net lace shawl and a cream silk knotted tassel, creating a truly ethereal, bohemian presentation.
The bodice is styled with a softly V-shaped net neckline accented by central beadwork and embroidery. A distinctive cream silk “bib” overlay snaps into place at the shoulders and extends into pointed panels down each side, lavishly embroidered in ivory with scattered clear iridescent beads. The back mirrors the front design with a wider silk band; the shoulder straps are stitched into place at the upper back rather than snapped, reflecting period construction.
Below the waist, the silk is lightly gathered beneath the waistband, falling into a fluid, softly waved skirt finished with elegant double looped silk trim. The short net sleeves are beautifully detailed with dangling looped cream silk trim and an additional layer of ultra-fine netting.
The gown fastens along the left side with snaps and features an interior waistband with hook and eye closures. Several interior seams are marked “Warner’s." The accompanying scalloped ivory-cream floral net lace shawl may be worn in multiple ways, creating a dramatic, romantic silhouette, and is paired with a matching cream silk knotted tassel.
Condition: Near mint. The gown has been professionally cleaned and restored by Sewtique in Connecticut. It is clean, structurally sound, and ready to wear or display, with outstanding workmanship throughout. Two small holes are present in the silk skirt, along with a very faint yellow mark near the back hem. A tiny hole is present in the net at the left shoulder, along with a small gap in the exceptionally fine lace on that sleeve; the lace in this area is extremely delicate and wispy. These minor issues do not detract from the overall presentation.
A truly special Edwardian bridal gown with museum-quality presence, ideal for collectors, historical study, or an unforgettable statement piece. Serious buyers are encouraged to review all images carefully and ask any questions prior to purchase.
