Lovely antique early 1900s Edwardian two-piece Gibson Girl ensemble consisting of a bishop-sleeve wool blouse and coordinating skirt, crafted in a soft tannish-beige lightweight wool and trimmed throughout with beige and white floral braided silk trim. A classic example of the Gibson Girl aesthetic, this set features the iconic pigeon-breast (monobosom) silhouette and elegant vertical detailing.
The blouse is beautifully shaped with ruching, tuck pleats, and braided silk trim that enhance the pouched pigeon-breast bodice. It features a fitted round neckline and long bishop sleeves, with a short straight hem that sits beneath the softly bloused waist. The interior includes a fitted cotton under-bodice that fastens down the center with hook-and-eye closures, while the outer wool bodice secures with hook-and-loop closures at the upper left shoulder and left side seam. The bodice is fully lined with the exception of the sleeves.
The matching skirt is fitted through the upper hip before flowing into a graceful, floor-length silhouette. Decorative elements include tiered bands of braided silk trim, tuck pleating, and ruching above the hem, finishing in three softly flounced tiers. The skirt closes at the center back with a hook and eye and is unlined aside from a cotton-lined waistband.
