Antique 1900s Edwardian Straw Picture Hat with Ostrich Feather & Millinery Flowers

Antique Edwardian picture hat dating to 1900s - 1910s. Made of golden natural straw with a deep crown and dramatically shaped, wire-supported brim. Trimmed with a long ivory ostrich feather, a garland of small millinery flowers and leaves, and two tissue-silk floral accents. The brim edge is faced in printed watered silk.

The deep crown retains its original silk crown-tip lining and label reading “Importers Mannheimer Bros. Fine Millinery, Saint Paul, Minn.”

Measurements

Interior Crown Circumference: Approx. 29” around at the interior base. Due to the oversized, deep-crowned construction, this does not correspond to a conventional hat size. Designed to sit over an Edwardian hairstyle and be secured with hatpins.

Interior Crown Opening: Approx. 9” side to side × 9” front to back.

Condition: Good! The exterior presents beautifully, with age-related wear to the straw and millinery trimmings. Both tissue-silk floral accents are very delicate, with one especially fragile. The gathered interior silk lining is extensively shattered and partially detached, exposing the wire framework and sheer silk foundation - handling will continue to degrade this silk. The silk crown-tip lining and original Mannheimer Bros. label remain intact. The watered-silk brim edging has minor wear and small splits. 

I’ve intentionally left the interior as found to preserve the original construction. Handle and wear with care.
