Antique 1900s 1910s Wedding Trousseau – Satin Lace Bridal Dress, Undergarments, Veil, Shoes & Accessories, Historical Heirloom

Very special antique wedding trousseau, circa 1910s, including a cream silk satin and lace wedding dress, silk and lace undergarments, embellished satin and kid leather shoes, a copy of the framed bridal photograph, stockings, kid leather gloves, and matching satin sleeve pieces. Also included is a bridal headpiece and veil, which appear to be of a somewhat later date.

The wedding dress is made of a lovely candlelight-hued silk satin and fine floral net lace. Faux pearls accent both shoulder panels, the sleeves, and the midriff. The sleeve hems are finished with very fine knife-pleated silk. There is a detachable cummerbund and a tiered, scalloped lace and silk skirt. The dress closes with numerous hooks and eyes up the left side of the skirt and across the waistband, continuing up the right side of the bust to the neckline.

The undergarment/lingerie pieces include a fine silk and lace underskirt and a lace camisole/corset cover with silk ribbon ties. The camisole gathers with interwoven silk ribbon tie closures at the bust and waist. Silk ribbon bows accent the front and back. The underskirt is made of very fine silk and lace, with hook-and-eye closures up the left side.

Gorgeous silk satin and kid leather wedding shoes featuring silk ribbon “petals” with a metal bullion-trimmed, prong-set rhinestone center. Stamped “The Inter-State Merc. Co. Winona, Minn.” Approx. size 6 1/2–7. 

The trousseau came with the original silk stockings, long kid leather gloves, and matching silk satin undersleeves. The gloves are stamped “6 1/2 Grand Prix Paris 1900.” The right glove unfortunately has a large tear to the back of the arm. The stockings are in good condition with light soil, and the undersleeves or extra sleeves are also in good condition.

The bridal headpiece seems off to me—not accurate to the era of this trousseau due to the materials, which give it a midcentury feel. Possibly this set was re-worn and a 'newer' veil was made. It is made of softly gathered tulle mounted on a velveteen-covered wire base, with satin ribbon rosettes and ribbon strands that are definitely not silk. Scalloped lace trims the very long veil. The lace trimming the veil sides and hem has torn / along areas at the trim-line. This lace is fragile in the further back areas.

Condition: Oveall good - please read each item statement.

Dress: Good. The silk is soft and there is no dry rot. The underarms do have staining (most notable at FR which also has 2 tiny holes). The front skirt just above hem has three water stains. Some very minor tiny specks / marks to silk. 

Camisole/Corset Cover: Good-. Underarm discoloration. Wear to silk ribbon ties. Minor darkened lace pieces.

Under Skirt: Good-. Some very small holes mainly concentrated to upper waist areas. 

Wedding Shoes: Good! Minor wear / faint discolorations.
