Antique early 1900s Mennonite three-piece dress set, acquired from a Pennsylvania estate and dating to the Edwardian era. This beautifully preserved ensemble is rendered in a rich, blue hue. The fabric appears to be a silk-linen-wool blend, with fine horizontal ribbing and subtle slubbing that adds depth and texture.
The dress is styled with a fitted neckline and seamed bodice, fastening down the front with eleven black mother-of-pearl buttons and a single hook and eye at the waist. The bodice interior is lined in blue cotton, while the sleeves remain unlined. Side and back seams show hand whip-stitching, highlighting careful construction. The skirt is softly gathered and falls to an ankle-to-floor length, creating a graceful, modest silhouette.
Included with the dress is a detached front split cape, fastening with four snap closures at the collar, as well as a coordinating half apron. The apron features short 7" ties and would require the addition of hook-and-eye or snap closures for wear. The final image is shown for reference only.
