Antique 1890s Victorian Silk Paisley Peplum Bodice Jacket with Green Velvet Collar

Striking antique silk paisley bodice jacket circa 1890s in an orangish red and grayish green tinted paisley design on black silk. Fantastic complementary olive green velvet collar and open lapel front, black satin bow collar embellishments and knife-pleated silk chiffon overtop an ombre silk crepe under-layer! Embroidered and beaded buttons accent the black silk waistband that emphasizes the nipped waistline before the open front flared peplum hem. Fully lined with a striped cotton sateen under-bodice with glazed cotton sleeve lining. Each internal seam is boned and the under-bodice closes with hooks and eyes up the front. Overtop is the black knife-pleated silk chiffon, which has an ombre silk crepe under-layer whose hue radiates from saffron to deep burgundy. This outer section has hooks that close on fabric-covered loops hidden along the left side bodice underneath the collar.

Condition: Good!
Some splits / small wear areas to silk damask - most notable is approx. 1" in length on back. Ombre silk crepe under-layer, while vintage, is not original to bodice. I hand stitched this on as the prior silk taffeta under-layer was almost completely shredded. Peplum is lined in silk taffeta which has wear/tear. Small area of exposed boning.

Even with flaws, this peplum bodice presents beautifully!
