Antique 1860s Victorian Horsehair Bonnet with Gold Straw Flecks & Vibrant Fabric Flowers

Fantastic antique Victorian bonnet dating to the 1860s, crafted from finely woven black horsehair braid interwoven with golden straw-like flecks, creating a two-tone effect throughout. Vibrant colorful fabric flowers adorn the bonnet, providing a striking contrast against the dark horsehair. The bonnet closes with brown velvet ribbon ties. The interior has fine black silk lining the upper portion along with gathered silk tulle net that lines the brim.

Interior crown circumference: Approx. 20"*
Front Brim: approximately. 3" 

*For reference, the bonnet is shown on a head form with a 21" circumference. This bonnet was designed to perch over the hairstyle and secure with ties rather than fit tightly like a modern hat.

Condition: Very Good! Minor scattered wear and small areas of loss to the horsehair braid. Some unraveling and loss to the back neck edge, as shown. Minor wear to silk tulle trim. The bonnet remains structurally sound and presents beautifully.
