Vintage 1920s Black Silk Lace Dress, Jazz Age 20s Dress, Large

Vintage 1920s black silk dress featuring a beautifully scalloped black floral lace overlay, capturing the effortless elegance of the Jazz Age. The dress is styled with a softly rounded neckline and a subtle slit keyhole opening at center front, lending just a hint of detail. Long sheer silk georgette sleeves are finished with lace-trimmed hems, adding lightness and movement.

The silhouette is classic 1920s, with side waistband panels that wrap around the back, creating an easy shift shape designed to drape rather than fit closely to the body. There are no closures aside from a single hook and eye at the front nape; this dress is meant to be pulled on over the head. Please note that ease is required for both comfort and dressing.

For reference, the dress is shown on a form with a 40" bust and 34" waist. Your measurements should be at least 2" smaller than the garment to allow for ease and to comfortably pull the dress on over the head. Dresses from the 1920s are not meant to be fitted and are designed with a loose, flowing silhouette.

Condition: Good. Issues are subtle and largely unnoticeable unless closely examined. There are tears to the final lace panel near the hem at the back of the skirt, one darn to the lace near the keyhole, and one tear at the front right side skirt near the hem. A silk patch is present at the back side skirt hem; both interior and exterior views are shown, with some visible fabric pricking. Two small holes are also present in the silk. All condition issues are shown in the final three images—please enlarge for detail. Despite these flaws, the dress presents wonderfully; the intricate lace and drape truly come to life when worn.
