Devastatingly romantic Edwardian-era antique pale blush organdy and lace dress, dating to the 1910s. Crafted from sheer cotton organdy or silk organza in a soft whisper-pink hue, this ethereal gown embodies the delicacy and artistry of early 20th-century dressmaking. The silhouette is light and fluid, elevated by exquisite surface decoration and rare symbolic lacework.
The bodice features slender silk ribbon shoulder straps and a scalloped lace neckline, subtly underlaid with an illusion silk ribbon band for gentle structure. Finely embroidered floral wreaths and intricate floral cutwork lace adorn the bodice, showcasing exceptional handwork. The front of the skirt continues this ornate detailing with additional floral embroidery, cutwork lace, and elaborate filet lace panels. Particularly striking are the filet lace inserts at either side of the front hem, depicting mythical birds—likely phoenixes or dragons—an unusual and captivating motif rarely seen in Edwardian textiles.
The back of the skirt is equally breathtaking, finished with mixed lace trims and circular medallions composed of layered floral lace. The dress fastens down the back with a hook-and-eye closure, followed by four snaps and an additional hook-and-eye at the waist. A larger skirt opening remains below the final closure for ease of dressing.
A truly exceptional piece ~ shown styled with a modern nude under-slip for display only; slip is not included.
