Gorgeous antique Edwardian Gibson Girl two-piece dress set dating to the early 1900s, crafted in sheer white cotton Swiss dot and delicate floral lace. This beautiful ensemble embodies the iconic Gibson Girl silhouette, with a softly fitted round neckline, lace-worked upper bodice, and a dramatic blouson “pigeon breast” blouse that blouses gently over the waist for a romantic, period-correct profile.
The blouse is styled with long bishop sleeves gathered at the cuffs, a frilled bust ruffle trimmed in embroidered lace, and a softly pouched front waistline balanced by a loose, flowing back. Button closures down the back.
The coordinating skirt is long, bohemian, and fluid, with a wide sweeping hem and an elongated, trained back for graceful movement. Cut lace trims the upper skirt, accented with vertical tuck pleats that add texture and refinement. The skirt fastens at center back with a single button and loop closure. An especially lovely Edwardian set that would also make a stunning antique wedding ensemble.
Label: none
Content: sheer cotton Swiss dot, floral lace
Best Fit: XXS / XS
Skirt Measurements:
Waist: 23"
Hip: Free
Front Length: 39 1/2"
Back Length: 46 3/4"
Blouse Measurements:
Bust: 32"
Waist: 28"
Length: 16 1/4" (side hem), 18" (center hem)
Shoulder Width: 10 1/2" measured flat across lace back
Sleeve Length: approximately 25"
Please note: the sleeve heads sit higher on the shoulder; the shoulder measurement listed reflects the lace portion only. For reference, the model has a 31.5" bust and a 25"–25 1/2" waist. While the waist could be buttoned at this size, it was extremely tight and not comfortable. Best fit is at a 23" waist. I do not recommend sizing larger in order to preserve the integrity of the delicate materials.
Condition: Very Good. Presents beautifully and is ready to wear. The skirt has a horizontal seam at the front right side (uncertain if original to the design) and a couple of small holes at the hem. The blouse shows a darn at the pouched front and some darning at the hem, with a few small remaining holes that are not visible when worn tucked into the skirt. A darn is also present at the back with some small holes closer to the hem, which have been left as-is.
Enjoy! #19-207
