Antique Victorian Edwardian Velvet Ostrich Feather Hat with Silk Trim & Jeweled Pins

Dramatic antique Victorian or Edwardian black velvet hat decorated with ostrich feather plumes, silk trim, a rhinestone studded pin and faceted buckle embellishment! I'm unsure if this is late Victorian or early Edwardian and also not quite sure how she sits on the head, hence showing her a few ways. She also must have had a hat pin to secure her into place.

There's a lot going on in this hat - her upturned brim is covered in ruffled silk with larger swaths of silk taffeta and silk taffeta bows. A faceted 'buckle' embellishment and a prong-set rhinestone-esque buckle or pin has portions of silk taffeta wrapped through. The visible portion of the crown is cotton velvet and next to the ostrich plumes is a smaller sprig of tiny faux feathers some of which feature jet black beads at the ends. The interior crown has a structured buckram type material with a thin cotton lining that's open at the interior center crown.

No labels - although I believe this was made by a reputable milliner of the time.

Outer Circumference: 35"
Inner Brim Circumference: 16"

Condition: Overall very good!
Some wear to velvet & wear/ light tear to silk taffeta. Fade / light discoloration to ruffled silk trimming the brim. Patina & missing some jewels on buckle pin and a cut ostrich feather that's interwoven through another.
