Antique 1880s Lace Trim Floral Brocade Pointed Hem Victorian Bodice Jacket, Medium

Antique Victorian brocade bodice jacket with a pointed front and back hem. The styling is 1880s and the brocade is antique, however this bodice jacket may have been sewn at a much later date as it was previously owned by a school theater department. She has a fantastic seamed silhouette that flatters the body with the nipped waist and elongated hemlines. Gathered long sleeves have lace trim. Gathered scalloped lace trims the neckline with a lace ribbon bow. Hook and eye closures down front. Interior lined with linen with exception of sleeves which have thin cotton linen lining. The first two interior seams of bodice on both sides have thin felted bands that encase plastic boning (the right side has the plastic boning in only 1 of these seams). I can actually see hardened clear plastic coming out of these seam ends which is how I can identify it.

Seam stress with tiny open stitches where seams were opened up.
Underarm discoloration. Lace neckline trim has numerous holes and you can see sloppy large blue hand stitches that were used to secure into place. This lace can easily be removed if desired. I actually like it even with the holes as it adds a nice dimension. Lace trim at sleeves has seen better days.

Even with her flaws, she still presents very well. Perfect for a theater company, photo shoots or for someone who doesn't mind imperfections and alterations of antique garments.
