Fantastic antique 1900s blue Edwardian dress set. The dark blue weave has tiny sandy flecks throughout in a 1/1 basketweave ~ I believe she's a silk wool tweed. She's styled with a high rounded neckline featuring a large scalloped lace shawl collar and puffed leg of mutton sleeves with inner tuck seams towards tapered lace trim hems. Gathered pigeon breast front with flattering back gathers and a cinched waist with two arrow pointed hems that I've crossed and pinned shut. The bodice is fully lined with blue cotton with hook and eye closures down the center. Inner seams are boned and there are three hooks secured at the 3 central back seams in order to close onto the skirt.
The tailored skirt is just lovely featuring flattering vertical tuck seams that encircle the entire backside ending at the front sides. From here the skirt flares out towards the hem featuring horizontal tiers. Fully lined with a polished blue cotton petticoat with a double flounced hem. The skirt closes at center back waistband with two hook and eyes along with 3 loops to secure onto the hooks on back bodice.
Of note: this dress was sold to me as a wedding dress. Unfortunately, I was not able to get any more information from the previous owner. Regardless, she's a beauty and is in amazing condition for her age!
