1890s 1900s Victorian Edwardian Dress Set, 4pc Antique Purple Silk Walking Dress, Turn of the Century M - M/L

Rare near mint excellent antique turn of the century 4pc 1900s purple silk and damask walking dress set! This antique dress has similarities to the the late 1890s Victorian era, however, I believe she's closer to 1900-1904 range. This dress is made of ribbed silk in a rich plum purple hue with a gorgeous floral damask ruffled bodice yoke and is comprised of four pieces: a full floor length skirt; damask trimmed bodice with flattering pleating; a dramatic and detached bow sash fringed waist belt and pink silk neck collar.

The floor length paneled skirt is fully lined with glazed cotton, has a short braided hem protector and closes center back with two hook and eyes. There are four interior hooks that close onto the front & back of bodice.

The bodice is fully lined with glazed cotton, however, there is no boning at the interior seams which is why I believe this to be circa early 1900s. The bodice closes center front with hooks and eyes and the damask yoke has hook eyes up left side to shoulder. Please note: there are 4 hidden hooks on upper left side of damask yoke that I cannot find corresponding eyes (or evidence of) to hook onto. However, the two hooks at shoulder keep the damask yoke in place and so the four hooks can easily be removed. A 2" collar has three hook and loop closures that fasten center front. The waist has four hooks (2 @ front sides and 2 @ center back) stitched to the outside which connect to interior hooks on the skirt.

A detached pleated belt encircles the waistline closing with hooks and eyes near the right side featuring a small bow embellished with a faceted pin. The backside has quite the impact with an embellished oversized center bow with long fringed sashes extending down one side. Definitely a statement piece!

Lastly, this set comes with a pleated pink silk neck collar that fastens with hooks/eyes. The collar confuses me a bit as I can't imagine covering up the damask yoke with it, however, I've shown it this way in the 9th image.

Truly a remarkable and beautiful walking dress in near excellent condition! Color is truest to middle and right image in the first tri-collage.
