Antique 1850s Victorian Printed Cotton Pagoda Sleeve Tiered Day Dress, Mid 19th Century Crinoline Dress, Angel Sleeves, 29" Waist

Wonderful example of an authentic mid 19th century Victorian cotton day dress in a floral fern and check pattern in tobacco brown and cerulean blue hues! This dress would have been worn over a structured cage crinoline as the skirt is very wide and bell shaped. Styled with a fitted neckline, drop shoulders with ruching at top of the wide bell hem pagoda sleeves, defined waist and a sweeping floor length three tiered skirt. The bodice is lined in cotton and the sleeves are lined in glazed cotton with patterned silk at the interior hems. Boning is found at the front side interior seams. The bodice closes with hook and eyes down center to waist - the hooks are modern replacements. There is extra bodice fabric underneath the eyes extending out underneath where the left side hooks into place. There is a snap (not original) and replacement hook/eye at right waistline that the left side of top skirt closes onto. The skirt is not lined with exception of the last skirt tier having a matching fabric straight under hem that is lined in the glazed cotton.

Condition: Good-
Numerous areas of wear throughout where the cotton has unraveled (most notable areas at bottom back skirt tier, underarms and sides front neckline). Zigzag stitching at top skirt (iron on cotton tape lines this small area). Fabric patch on bodice. Areas of discoloration & spotting.
