1890s Victorian Blue Wool Plaid Dress Ensemble, Antique 19th Century Riding Habit, XS

Museum quality 1890s antique Victorian blue wool plaid two piece dress ensemble which quite possibly could have been a riding habit. The color is outstanding in a peacock blue color palette along with black stripes and flecks of golden yellow. The bodice detailing is superb, styled with a braided trim fold over high collar neckline; slight kick up sleeves with black lace tie hems; trimmed lapel extending down the entire left side bodice and stacked knife pleats enhancing the right side bodice to the slightly V'd center point! The backside is styled with an elongated back V hem with flattering seam-work. Fully boned, separate interior waistband with hook/eye closure, lined in cotton muslin with corresponding hook/eye closures up the front. The pleated right side bodice also has four hidden hooks that close onto loops at the left hand side.

The floor length skirt is styled with a lovely drape across the top front left side along with numerous pleats throughout concealing the hidden right side pocket. Four stitched 3 pointed stars accent pleats at the left side skirt. The skirt has an additional brown cotton muslin under layer with a matching plaid wool hem and hem protector. Hook/eye closure at waistband.
