1850s Antique Victorian Printed Rosebud Cotton Dress with Tiered Pagoda Sleeves, Fan Front Dress, Museum Quality XS 25 Waist

Museum quality authentic antique 1850s Victorian cotton rosebud print tiered pagoda sleeve day dress! Dated to 1852, this sheer printed cotton Victorian day dress is breathtaking and in outstanding condition. The bodice is fitted with an interior cotton lining that is seamed but not boned and features a tightly pleated and piped fan front waist that dips slightly in the center fanning up and out into looser pleats over the bust and shoulders. Piped drop shoulders lead way to the fantastic lace trimmed and tiered bell shaped pagoda sleeves including the original lace trim very fine sheer cotton engageantes (under sleeves) that you can slip on if desired. The dress closes with hooks and stitched eye holes up the center waist to neckline and two additional hook/eyes along waistband (1 set is a modern addition). The waist where the bodice and skirt are joined is tightly gathered creating a sweeping full skirt that would have been worn over a crinoline or hooped petticoat. The skirt itself is not lined, however, it does indeed have a lined hidden right side pocket.

Truly a magnificent piece of textile history in near excellent condition - this dress can be worn with care, displayed and absolutely admired.
