1890s 1900s Victorian Edwardian Blue Floral Print Cotton Dress, Turn of the Century Gigot Sleeve Antique Day Dress, XS - S

Gorgeous antique late 1890s - early 1900s blue floral morning glory print cotton 2pc dress, skirt and bodice set. The cotton print is incredibly vibrant with a black background featuring striking blue trumpet type morning glory flower heads amidst small tan and white sprigs / branches. The cotton underside has a soft flannel backing as well.

Her bodice is styled with a split front collared neckline of midnight blue cotton velvet and a cross-over gathered velvet yoke that extends to the waistline embellished with large polished black cut shank buttons (3 on right side, 2 on left) and closes with a hook/eye at side waist and upper left shoulder. Underneath this yoke, the bodice closes down the center front with 7 mix-match buttons (5 are antique shank buttons but one has a missing face and the bottom two are brown vintage buttons). Gathered gigot / leg of mutton sleeves that resemble the sleeve shape of fashion plates from 1898. Slightly longer curved back waist with double pleats running from the nape to waist. The bodice is lined in blue calico cotton and brown cotton lines the velvet yoke overlay. The sleeves are lined in a white cotton muslin. Hand and machine sewn.

The ankle to floor length gathered skirt has a lovely sweep and gathered flounced hem. One large hook/clasp at center back - most likely a replacement.
