Early 1880s Iridescent Green Silk Natural Form Bustle Dress, 2pc Antique Victorian Basque Bodice Jacket & Trained Ruched Skirt, Near Mint!

Outstanding museum quality early 1880s natural form bustle dress in iridescent green silk taffeta! This 2pc antique Victorian gown is made up of a basque bodice jacket featuring incredible hourglass seam-work with a fantastic ruched yoke and ruched sleeves with flared hems. The jacket comes down to two points on each side of the center front with the center back ending in a V point. The jacket is fully lined in glazed cotton with an interior waist closure. The outside closes with 11 rectangular ivory cream buttons (the button faces have been rubbed off) and five hook/loops up the neckline.

The skirt is jaw dropping styled with a trained draped split front over skirt that is heavily embellished with fringed 'bow' trim that are connected along the inverted V front of the over skirt followed by strands of dangling white faux pearls! The trained backside is draped down the center and when you look at the flat lay, you can also see the impeccable attention to detail which includes ruching that completely encircles the back skirt and 28 partially attached fringed bows! The under skirt is completely ruched until the hem. The skirt is fully lined and has a cotton waistband with two hook/eye closures. Two elasticized ‘bustle’ straps are found across the interior back of trained skirt (the bottom most strap is cut).

In the past twenty years, I have not found a Victorian silk taffeta gown in as impeccable condition as this one - she's truly a rare find!

CONDITION: Near Mint / Museum Quality / Silk Taffeta is Structurally Outstanding! / Underarms are PRISTINE!

Flaw: 1 spill ‘splotch’ above left center ruched panel of overskirt.

Minor Issues: Around 10-15 very minor spots & 3 tiny holes. Missing beads on 1 strand. (You have to be closely examining to even see these!)
