Edwardian Dress Set, Early 1900s Antique Military Inspired Skirt and Jacket, Metallic Bullion Trim Historical Costume, Medium

Authentic antique early 1900s military / naval inspired Edwardian costume. The fitted collared black bodice jacket is made of cotton velvet featuring pointed braided metallic bullion trim with gold hued ornamental balls at each end. This metal thread-work also trims the neckline and gathered sleeve hems. The back has flattering seams - the left side has been altered in for a more defined flare. The interior is lined with glazed cotton and the jacket closes down the center back with hook and eyes. There are two 'eyes' at each shoulder as well so maybe at one point this outfit had some sort of sash that attached to the shoulders.

Right image in sixth picture was lightened to show detailing of jacket back. Velvet is dark black or very dark blue - my husband saw black and I saw a tinge of blue. Skirt also looks more yellow/beige here.

The cream skirt continues the military inspired theme with the metallic bullion trim with more fancy side buttons down the center front. The skirt is mid calf to ankle length and full at the hem. It closes with a hook/eye at center back (two eyes for adjustable fit) with gathers and a horizontal seam.

*Bust: 34" can fit 35" max
Waist: 29"
Length: 23 1/4"
Shoulder Width: 13"
Sleeve Length: 22 1/2"

*Nothing wrong with back closures, dress form bust was too big at 37" around in order to close.

Skirt Measurements
Waist: 31" or 33" (can move eye further back for a smaller fit).
Hip: free up to 54"
Front Length: 32 1/2"
Back Length: 36"

Condition: Fair +

Jacket: Good - some minor imperfections to velvet. Interior cotton has underarm stains. Hooks appear to be replacements. Alteration to seam mentioned above. Patina to metallic trim, slight wear to trim at sleeve hem and wear / patina to ornamental balls.

Skirt: Fair - numerous light stains, inverted L shaped tear near hem & a couple small holes. Patina to metallic trim. Both the back waist and hem were altered - I have removed these alterations leaving tiny open stitch marks and creasing at hem. Some loose stitches to horizontal seam below waistband.
